Village Taor lays 20 km southeast from the center of Skopje, on left bank of river Vardar, where the river pulls out from swamp and enters in Taor Clift. The village is connected with Skopje through bridge on river Vardar and village Oreshani. In roman time, on north side from the settlement was passing highway road, from Skupi, through Stobi lead to Thessalonica. The settlement on locality Gradishte is locate southeast from the periphery of village Taor, settle on high hill constitute from acropolis and two terraces.
Acropolis is located on south side from the locality, on the highest and most dominant position on the hill with wide visual view over surrounding. On its south end, west and east defense wall are united in strong “tower-bastion”. South from the bastion is dug deep defense ditch, which is still seen on the field.
On north side from acropolis is settle first terrace, 30 meters lower from it. Our explorations are located on east side from this terrace. Acropolis and first terrace are comprised with defense wall. Lower, the second terrace represents underground and occupies biggest space. It’s comprised with defense wall.
On the east and west, settlement has on each side small terrace. The west terrace is linked to underground and on the surface lays modern necropolis on village Taor. The east terrace is linked to the second terrace and it is sharp slope, probably had defense function. For now, on these terraces are not discovered remains from earlier building interventions or moving archeological findings.
